EATING BREAKFAST: AN EASY WAY TO BOOST YOUR DAY

By Jennifer Cortez

If you’ve ever sat in an 8 AM morning class, you may have noticed something. Students look exhausted, usually with a $5 cup of coffee from the on-campus Starbucks sitting on their desks. Although we’re told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day by our doctors, most people - especially students - often ignore this advice. Instead of waiting in line for a morning coffee, students should instead take this time to prepare and eat breakfast in the morning. Although nourishing, breakfast doesn’t always have to be sunny side up eggs, toast, pancakes, and fresh squeezed orange juice. It can be a quick smoothie, a bowl of cereal with almond milk, or a filling protein bar. Doctors and health advocates persuade us to eat breakfast because it can truly make an impact on how you’ll feel in the morning, and nourish us to have a healthy mind throughout the day. For college students, this nourishment is beneficial considering that we often spend an hour or more sitting in a classroom writing notes or doing other classroom activities. A student who skips breakfast or lunch can find themselves sitting in class with growling stomachs, unable to focus and work efficiently. Here’s some great filling breakfast options that are easy to make, and can even be made the night before:
