ENTERTAINMENT WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY

By Joshua Drewry

How do you entertain yourself/stimulate your mind without technology?

There are many ways I entertain myself and stimulate my mind without technological media.  For entertaining myself, there are options that can fall under the - outside recreational activities – category.  I enjoy playing soccer; a pick-up game of any sport can be great fun.  Sometimes people are too stuck on having to play it seriously but pick-up games don’t always have to be about winning or losing. There are other activities to enjoy as well; some could be hiking, running, cycling, or rock climbing.  Besides recreational activities, there are a ton of other things to do: hang out with friends to chat, drink boba, play board-games, go for a drive, take the train to DTLA or work on some kind of project.

Many things can be mentally stimulating as well as entertaining:planning an adventure, thinking of how to improve in a certain sport, engaging in interesting discussions, etc. There are also many things to do alone, like reading a book or doing homework. Books can be very stimulating; you can try to learn another language, study religious texts like the Bible, or even create and outline potential projects, work or business ideas.  There are a huge variety of ways to stay entertained and stimulated besides the technology we’re so used to using!

Art With Impact

The students of ENG3120 are creating an online magazine that explores the concept of and provides outlets to maintaining healthy mentalities and overall wellness—a term which we define as: a state of wellbeing wherein individuals realize their own abiliities and can cope with everyday stresses in a safe and healthy manner.
